Accountability

This program involves a joint FNSDS & INAC process to support BSDWs in meeting the requirements needed to pass a Compliance Review (INAC audit). At present the INAC Complinace Review involves a 3 Stage process. The FNSDS is involved in Stage 2 and this entails an assessment process that includes:

  1. A BSDW self-assessment of knowledge and experience gaps and training needs
  2. A discussion and assessment by a FNSDS trainer
  3. A comprehensive report outlining training needs
  4. A BSDW self-assessment of Active Measures activities.

Once the report is complete, recommendations are made for training that may involve all or any of the following; Level 1 training, one-on-one field training, 1,3 & 6 month follow-up, A pre-Compliance Review assessment report is performed by INAC as to which program gap, documentation and reporting errors need to be corrected by the First Nation community. A complete Compliance Review would then be performed by INAC 6-9 months after the assessment. Due to limited resources, priority is currently given to bands facing treaty negotiations and bands with large SA caseloads.
