FNSDS Conference

One of the responsibilities the FNSDS considers a high priority is to keep abreast of the needs and concerns of First Nations in BC as they relate to Social Development and the health and wellbeing of BC First Nations. The FNSDS Conferences create a venue for the procurement of this information while creating opportunity for Social Development field staff to network, be heard and to receive needed information on the social, political and economic changes that may affect their work, clients and communities. Please refer to the events calendar for dates.

Active Measures - "Saying Farewell to Welfare" Conference - November 5-6, 2007

FNSDS hosted their annual Active Measures conference at the Renaissance Habourside Hotel in downtown Vancouver on November 5 & 6th, 2007.

A panel of BC First Nations youth also shared their stories of personal success and their journey toward independance from the social welfare system. Included were their life stories of family, life on reserve, education and the steps they have taken to overcome these challenges.
