PWD PR0GRAM OVERVIEW
As part of its mandate, the FNSDS supports projects and initiatives that have Federal Government First Nation related services be transferred to First Nations. The FNSDS believes that BC First Nations must be involved in allocating their own funds and services if First Nations are to become independent and self-sustaining.
This PWD Program is a partnership between the FNSDS and INAC. Under this program, the PWD adjudication process, which is essential in discerning which Social Assistance clients qualify for extended services under the Social Development Persons with Disabilities Policy, has been transferred to the FNSDS for management. Through this service the FNSDS is committed to streamlining the adjudication process and to effectively reduce waiting and processing times to an acceptable level. The present average waiting period is now 2 weeks.
